3. FavStar Recent — Our tweets recently starred and retweeted by others. Read this list for a filtered version of our current tweet stream, vetted by our most dedicated readers in real time.
4. Our Downloaded Twitter Archive — All of our tweets as downloaded directly from Twitter, displayed in their own format. Fully searchable but can be slow. Downloaded about twice a month.
5. Our Own Searchable Tweet Archive — Our own comprehensive, fully searchable archive of all our tweets. (We wrote this software ourselves before the official twitter archive was available.) May be delayed by up to two weeks. Includes links to the original tweets on Twitter.

Twitter Notes for @BadDalaiLama...

• Our main account, @BadDalaiLama, is a high-volume feed, averaging 20+ tweets per day.


• The Bad Dalai Lama was born on Sept. 15, 2010. While the good Lama went in one direction, his bad brother went another.


• See our Social Media Policy for an explanation of how all our accounts fit together (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.).


• The Bad Dalai Lama may be addressed as "His Holiness", "His Badliness", "His Baldliness", "BDL", "HHBDL"... or anything! — so long as it is deferential to his enormous ego wisdom and intellect.


• Any appearance of "I" or "me" in our tweets reflect the opinions of our channeler, Glenn Campbell. They do not necessarily reflect the position of His Holiness the Bad Dalai Lama, who would never use such a pronoun.


• Searchable archive of our past tweets are found in our downloaded Twitter archive and in our Sacred Archive of Ancient Wisdom. The Sacred archive was created before the official Twitter archive was available. Although they do the same things, we have retained both for the time being. Both are updated every 1-2 weeks. Search by keyword or month. (The Sacred archive is our own archive system, written in Perl. It is based on tweet data retrieved from TweetBackup.)


• In addition to our main feed at @BadDalaiLama, we maintain four Lite™ feeds, which retweet selective wisdom from our main feed. (These feeds generate no original tweets of their own.) You can read or follow these streams instead of or in addition to our main feed. The Lite feeds are: @BadLamaArt, @BadLamaFunny, @BadLamaNirvana and @BadLamaWisdom.   Note: @BadLamaWisdom differs from @BadLamaNirvana in subtle ways. @BadLamaNirvana tweets are usually more succinct and brief—the highest form of our art. We retweet these tweets whenever we find them. @BadLamaWisdom is less selective. These tweets can be wordier and more complicated, and we always retweet five of them at a time, chosen at random from our past oeuvre. @BadLamaWisdom tweets are always from the past (at least 60 days old), whereas @BadLamaNirvana tweets can come from the present as well. If all you care about is our pithiest wisdom, follow @BadLamaNirvana. If you want a measured daily dose of our more complex thoughts, follow @BadLamaWisdom. Both feeds include no photos, links or any of the other stuff we tweet.

• Donate generously! Give us your stars (favorites) and retweets to let His Holiness know how much you care. If you laugh or smile or think about one of our tweets, star it, dummy! (You don't think we're giving out this stuff for free, do you?)


• All of the Bad Dalai Lama's tweets are his own original work or that of his channeler (unless RT'ed or enclosed in quotes). If you doubt this, try Googling for the tweet. You probably won't find an earlier instance of it, except perhaps on @KilroyCafe. The vast majority of our tweets are Brand New!, tweeted in the moment as they occur to us, but some may be retweets or slight modifications of our past work. Some tweets may have originally appeared on @KilroyCafe (Glenn's previous account). Occasionally the BDL may plagiarize his own work and repeat something he has already said, but it doesn't happen often.


• The Bad Dalai Lama actively "stars" any tweets he finds interesting. See His Current Favorites. Check this list daily for the best philosophical quotes and news from the Twittosphere. We star tweets mainly for our own reference, so we can more easily find the tweet later.


• Between January and October 2011, we archived our favorites here on this website. This list includes 4090 starred items on a single web page. (Archiving was ended when Tweetake was discontinued and we lost our data source.) This list is searchable simply by doing a text search on the web page.


• FOLLOWBACK POLICY. We check out the tweet stream of every new follower, and we follow back anyone who seems interesting to us or who we might want to communicate with in the future. This doesn't necessarily mean we read all those tweets. (We read instead from various public and private lists.) The main reason for following back is to allow DMs, but we also occasionally check our main feed for general traffic. (Prior to Dec. 2012, we tried to follow back most of our new followers, mainly to allow DMs, but now we are being more selective.) If an obviously commercial account follows us, we usually don't block it, but we don't follow back. We report as spam any porn or obviously abusive account that follows us.


• If you would like us to follow you to allow DMs, we can probably comply. Just email us.


• His Badliness replies to @ messages only when the reply seems useful to everyone (since this reply will become part of our permanent archive). Please note: His Holiness does not engage in running debates about his wisdom, as this would be unbecoming to a man in his position. However, he does process and digest everything you say, and your point may be incorporated in a later tweet.


• His Badliness reviews his main timeline occasionally, but most of his reading is done through a series of private lists and his public News and Psychology and Wisdom lists.


• We rarely do FF's or specifically recommend other tweeters. There are certain people we follow religiously, but it is bad karma to reveal our daily reading list. Instead, just check out the people we favorite, retweet and reply to.


• If there is anyone you think His Badliness should be following, let him know! Indeed, if there is anything at all you think he should know about, drop him a DM, @ reply or email.

• His Badliness usually posts his tweets in real time as he thinks of them. (For philosophical wisdom, this tends to be early in the day on the U.S. East Coast, when our brain is fresh). In the past, we used to try to spread tweets over the day by scheduling them with Hootsuite, but we don't do that anymore. Our tweets our now coming to you hot out of the oven! (They might be delayed only when we are out of internet range.)


• It is bad Karma to repeat the Bad Dalai Lama's words without attribution. Lord Google will know!


• Prehistoric tweets (before the birth of His Badliness) can be found in @KilroyCafe and the @KilroyCafe archive, which was active from April 2009 until Sept. 2010.
